Still writing away on my Black Cat Bookshop mystery (Mr. Hell-on-Paws, a.k.a. Hamlet the Cat, says hi to all the readers!). But I've taken time to add a couple more fun links to my LEONARDO page, one of them sure to make you grin.

And let me know what you think of my new author photo on the HOME page. I confess it drives me crazy when authors use 20-year-old pictures of themselves in their promotional material. Yeah, we'd all like to look 30 again, but them's the breaks! And so I like to keep my photo up-to-date. Nothing worse than meeting a reader in public and having them say, "you don't look a thing like your picture!". No fear...this is the real and current moi. :)

July 9, 2010

How in the heck did it get to be July already?? Hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th. I've been working on the new Black Cat Bookshop mystery, along with a few other projects, but I'm taking a few minutes to update my website.

Visit my LEONARDO page for a link to an interesting short video about the true face of Leonardo. I think you'll enjoy it. And check out the TAROT page. I've added a short article I wrote earlier this year for The Medieval Chronicle online magazine.

Finally, feel free to "friend" me on FACEBOOK to find out all the day-to-day details about me. (Be sure you add a message to your friend request letting me know you're one of my website readers.) More soon...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HUSBAND, GERRY! LOVE YOU!

May 17, 2010

I'm pleased to announce some BIG news! I've just signed a 3-book contract for a brand new contemporary mystery series with Berkley Prime Crime. Called The Black Cat Bookshop Mysteries, they feature a transplanted Texan, Darla Pettistone, who has taken over the Brooklyn bookstore owned by her late great-aunt. Along with the shop comes a bad-tempered black cat named Hamlet, who has a nose for trouble and a knack for solving crimes. Look for the first in the series, DOUBLE-BOOKED FOR DEATH sometime in Summer 2011. It's a fast, fun, and furious read...and you don't have to be a cat fanatic to enjoy. Go to my PUBLISHED WORKS page for a preview of the series.

A couple of quick updates to the site...a link to my most recent online appearance on my BLOGGING page, and an interesting Leonardo link added to my LINKS page. I've also added photos to the PICTURE GALLERY. And, a couple of days early, but HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to my wonderful mom, Helen, and all the moms out there. Love you!!

April 6, 2010

WOW! It's been awhile since I've updated the site, but I have an excuse. I've been working feverishly on a proposal for a new series. I've just submitted it to my editor, so I hope to know something in the next few weeks. I will keep you posted.

In the meantime, I've added some new reviews to the Reviews page. And check out the Blogging and Events page...I've got a couple of new online appearance, with a reminder about my April 21 lecture at the Royal Palm Beach Library.

Finally, I am off to Orlando on Thursday to pick up my Silver Medal at the Florida Book Awards banquet. I'm very excited over this great honor for PORTRAIT OF A LADY. Pictures soon!

February 28, 2010

Just back from SleuthFest, where I hung out with approximately 250 fellow writers, editors, and agents. Our guests of honor were the wonderful David Morrell (creator of "Rambo", among his many credits) and the entertaining Stephen J. Cannell, whose iconic TV series include The A-Team and The Rockford Files. It was a great time, and I'm looking forward to next year's conference.

But, even bigger news! I learned last week that my 2nd Leonardo mystery, PORTRAIT of a LADY, just won the 2009 Florida Book Awards SILVER MEDAL for Popular Fiction! Thanks to the judges and the Book Award Committee for this great honor.  You can find all the winners at their website: http://tinyurl.com/yhfsfna

February 25, 2010

I just saw a wonderful write-up of A BOLT from the BLUE, where the reviewer calls the book a fantastic read and ponders "why this book and the series isn’t all the rage?" See what else A.F. Heart has to say about it in her blog, Mysteries and My Musings. http://tinyurl.com/yzfvzz8

February 2, 2010

Happy Groundhog Day! I'm looking forward to SleuthFest the end of this month...I'll be speaking on a panel about short fiction. Can't wait to hear all the great speakers and hang with some really cool folks. In the meantime, I've added another new review for BOLT. If you spot a mention of A BOLT FROM THE BLUE or any of my other Leonardo da Vinci mysteries, send me a message and I'll post your news.

January 24, 2010

I updated the VIDEO PAGE with the long trailer for BOLT and added a snippet from a panel discussion from earlier this month.

January 23, 2010

I've updated my Blogging & Events page with more appearances scheduled this Spring. I hope you'll come see me in person!
